Q. Will this garment fit me?

A. You will find Actual Garment Measurements which will aid you in assessing the proper size to choose. The Actual Garment Measurements are just as the name suggests, actual measurements for that particular garment.

The Key To Buying Online is to know your size in inches. As every company adopts their own sizing chart (we use the standards set by ASTM), please take the time to choose which size would fit you in our measurement chart below.

Q. How do I measure myself?

A. Please refer to our Measuring Tips below for specific details on how to measure yourself correctly:

 *Bust: Measure under arms around fullest part of Bust (with bra on) .

*Waist: Measure around the natural waistline (about 6" below your chest), keeping the tape comfortably loose.

*Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips - about 8" below your waistline.

*Length: Measure from top of shoulder to bottom of hem (this applies to tops, dresses and pants).

Q. Should I wash my new American Islander garment before wearing?
A. Yes, we strongly recommend that you wash your new garment before wearing as there may be dyeing residues still in the fabric.

Q. How should I wash my American Islander garment?
A. All of our items are pre-washed in cold water. They can be machine washed on delicate mode in cold water - but to be 100% safe they should be hand-washed in cold water. Garments should be washed separately. Also, please do not tumble dry our garments - they should be line-dried. For best results American Islander garments should be ironed at medium heat.

Q. Is the color of the garment exactly as it appears on my computer screen?
A. Not necessarily. Lighting will sometimes make colors appear slightly different than they really are on camera (sometimes brighter or in a different shade). The settings on your computer monitor are also a factor; different monitors may show different shades for the same item.

Q. What sort of fabric is used on the garments?
A. We use a wide variety of select fabrics for our garments. All fabrics are pre-tested before use in our products. Some of the select varieties are Chiffon, Georgette, Lace, Poly/Spandex and Poly/Cotton blends.

Q. What sort of stitching and measurement standards are used to make your garments?
A. All American Islander garments are made to the highest standard in our own factory. We use a wide variety of appropriate seam classifications sewn ONLY with Juki Industrial straight stitch machines, Pegasus Overlocks and other specialized Industrial machines and attachments. We are not hobbiest sewers and We never cut corners. We use ASTM measurement charts by copy license to American Islander to pattern our designs. We are registered with both the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission RN# 119894.

A. We accept PayPal, credit card or eCheck. Money Orders are also excepted but Please note we DO NOT accept checks.

Q. There is an item missing from checkout what should I do?
A. Sometimes an error of some sort will prevent an item from being processed into checkout. If this is the case Please contact us to add the item into checkout. This process typically takes 24-48 hours.

Q. Will I have to pay duty/taxes on my order?
A. Most parcels we ship Internationally are never charged duty. However, the customer is responsible to pay any duty/taxes that may be applied by customs.

Q. How many delivery attempts will the PO make to my address?
A. The Post Office normally makes 2 delivery attempts to your address. However sometimes they only attempt 1 delivery. They should leave a notice at your address asking you to pick-up from the local Post Office.

Q. What happens if my order is returned to sender?
A. If you do not pick-up your parcel from your Post-Office it will be returned to us after 30 days. Once returned to us, we will notify you via email. You will be refunded the winning bid / buy it now price / best offer / 2nd chance offer (not shipping/insurance) less a 25% re-stocking fee (via PayPal only).

A. Some large orders may be split into several parcels.

Q. My package still hasn't arrived after your recommended delivery times what should I do?
A. Please contact your local Post Office. The Post Office may have attempted to deliver your order already and will be holding it there. They will keep a parcel for 30 days from delivery. After 30 days it will be returned to us.

Q. I have decided the garment is not what I want can I return it?
A. Yes, we have an unconditional return policy on all items purchased. If item(s) are returned within seven (7) business days of receipt, we will refund your winning bid amount.

  • Items may be returned for a refund of your purchase price (not shipping/insurance). Item must be unworn with all original tags. No Return Authorization is needed.
  • Returns (via regular mail) should be sent to: American Islander Returns Dept., P.O. Box 93 Spiro OK 74959 USA.
  • You must include your contact information plus the specific reason for the return (I.E. “Too Big”). Refund can be delayed significantly if you do not include this information. Refunds are processed within 2-5 business days of receipt.

Of course, in the rare circumstance where when you receive a defective garment, you will be entitled to a refund of your entire transaction amount.

  • If your garment has a physical defect or if the measurements of the Chest, Waist, Hips, Arm-Hole or Length deviate more than 1" from the measurements listed in the item description - you can return your item for a special refund of your winning bid (plus shipping/insurance). Item must be unworn with all original tags. No Return Authorization is needed.
  • Returns (via regular mail) should be sent to: American Islander Returns Dept.,  P.O. Box 93 Spiro OK 74959   USA .
  • You must include your contact information plus the specific reason for the return (I.E. “Chest 1.5" larger than stated in description or Fabric flaw on rear hem”).
